Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) is the practice of hosting a desktop operating system within a virtual machine (VM) running on a centralized server. VDI is a variation on the client/server computing model, sometimes referred to as server-based computing.

ITS, in conjunction with our service partner, Information Systems & Computing (ISC), is pleased to announce our new Virtual desktop and application service. The new VMware Horizon client will replace our previous VDI software hosted at Nursing, known as Citrix XenApp.  Our main goal is to seamlessly replace Citrix with a solution that will continue to provide reliable access to applications from both your Nursing domain desktops and home devices, with access to data stored on our network shared drives.  Partnering with ISC will allow us to provide a much more robust solution than the current existing application hosted here at Fagin Hall.
